Went to the Play Club in Lan Kwai Fong yesterday, it has a pole right in the middle of the dance floor, making it alot more “suitable” for pole dancing, however, the diameter of its pole is 38mm, i.e. super small pole(and not very stable too). It is made of titanium so it’s a bit slippery, but spinning on it is fun! *You’ve got alot more spins*.
So there are a number of clubs in HK with pole(s) installed now:
HK Island:
- The Priory (75-77 Wyndham Street, Hong Kong, phone: 2522 2628) - It has the longest pole so far. Our favourite place for pole parties. Pole is of 55mm diameter.
- Soda (G/F, 5 Minden Avenue, Phone: 27390338) - Very short pole indeed, heard it’s closed down.
- M1NT (108 Hollywood Road, Hong Kong) - It has podium pole, i.e. not permenantly fixed one
- Evisu Bar (2/F, 43 Lyndhurst Terrace) - the pole is situated on a slightly elevated platform, however it is very close to the DJ booth, there’s only about 2 feet distance in between them.
- Homebase (LG/F, 17-19 Hollywood Road) - The pole is on a small stage of calf height, not very suitable for proper pole dancing. The place is nice though, it’s closed down now.
- Zinc Bar - (35 D’Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong) - The 45mm pole is installed on a very high stage, making it very dangerous to dance to (provided the “stage” is only of 1-1.5 feet diameter)
- Laguna - It is situated in Wan Chai, been there once, and will never go there again. It has 2 pole though.
- The Play Club (California Tower, 32 D’Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong) - It has a 38mm stainless steel pole installed right in the middle of the dance floor. Nice environment but with confusion signs (or no signs at all: toilet signs missing, exit signs missing… even the indications for male or female toilet are missing)…. oh, confusion music too! It plays dance, then to pop, then to grunge, latino music … all mixed together in a weird way.
Tsim Sha Tsui:
- M1 - (80 Kimberley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui) - two poles installed on a stage, very Las Vagas style. It has regular pole dance performance every Friday and Saturday. Nice music.
- Club ZaZa (3/F, Toy House, 100 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui) - Never been there so can’t give any comment on this place :p

Sorry for constantly posting videos these days, but people kept sending me jaw dropping videos…. Meghan from X-Polesitions, was blind-folded, PLUS, she did a stunning death lay! And she remained soooo fluid and smooth after being blind folded, it’s like OH MY GOD.

How on earth was that possible? I bet it takes extreme control at the core…
Crazy pole dance routine, powerful moves with strict control… really jaw dropping *look out 2:30 - 2:40, 2:52, that Chinese drop at 3:05, straight edge bodywave at 3:20 and inverted teddy drop at 3:29)
OMG OMG OMG, yes “Straight Edge Bodywave” and “Inverted Teddy Drop”….

…the capillaries burst after doing 10x Straight Edge today!
Googled a bit on how to get rid of it (cos the dots will turn brown after a few days and these “bruise” would last for like a week, really scary looking!):
- something called “capillary clear solution”, not sure about what that is…
- some say putting on peanut butter works, i will give this a try (why not anyway, it can only make my face smelling nice if it doesn’t work, lol)
I have also uploaded a video of those straight edge…. sorry about my body fat, have just submitted my thesis 2 days ago and had been sitting quite alot recently, and hence the FAT BELLY!

This is a very pretty Scorpio, it shows strength and flexibility… simply beautiful
**update**
Realised this is NOT a scorpio, it is indeed a Brass Monkey variation…. it’s difficult to get into! Had a try and it looked horrible (I mean mine)

Bought a new pair (random brand) today… I’d been looking for a pair of nice purple platform shoes (either slingback or with straps) for ages and somehow I found a pair today!
3/4″ platform with 3 & 1/2″ heels, which I think is reasonable for pole dancing, and look at the platform and heels, both coated with silverish coating! Hee
Some of my other pole dancing shoes:

- S.L. What will happen if you do inversion? :p
- J.L. i’d seen ppl hiking w/ mask at sars time …………… XD
- D.H. the masks would probably fly off when we all spin.
might be even worse for spinning pole.. it will be
~phuuu~ “blup” (i.e. flown away, and land on the ground)
- I.N. really?? how about trying an N95…
- S.L. Still “~phuuu~ “blup” (i.e. flown away, and land on the ground)” <—the whole person, cos fainted after wearing N95 :p
- D.H. that would be “bang” or “aiii-ya” rather than a simple “blup”
sorry, taking BS here

Since the swine flu is such a hot topic these days (just confirmed that it has arrived HK!)… thought of putting a few shoutouts and updates and comments here, which I find kinda funny.
just wondering, if the swine flu gets serious in HK, do we have to wipe our POLES with BLEACH? at 01:58 on 01 May

I had been trying to do a proper straight edge for months… all I managed to do was 0.5-1 sec, and opps, fell (or legs being “peeled” off like an orange)… anyway, after having a lesson with Mariana Baum from Pole Dance Paris, I finally managed to do this pose! I absolutely have no idea on how this could happen, cos my instructor, Symone, gave us(me) soooo many advices and tips but I still failed to.
I think it might be because of the fact that Mariana is of the same height as me (Symone is T-A-L-L) and so she knows how this tiny body works…
Anyway, she gave me a few tips:
- practise on advanced butterfly
- make sure you can get the advanced aysia first
- find the balance point, and don’t hurry into the pose
- do one leg at a time
- use your abdominal muscle! keep your body straight!
- Tighten your butt and the whole body!
That’s all! Hope these tips help
