Starting from 4th September, Tribeca, a club in the Harbour View Hotel Wanchai, will be hosting a new ladies night called “Pole Friction”. I’m not doing any advertisement here but my classmates from Pole Divas HK are performing, and it is always nice to have another club with pole installed :-)

To celebrate the launch of \”Pole Friction\”, the new Tribeca ladies night, Pole Divas HK\’s instructor - Symone is performing tonight at the club. She will be performing from 12 midnight to 2am.

Free entry and free drinks for all ladies, and for men, an entry fee of $160 is required (one drinks included). Sorry guys!

For more information please refer to the e-flyer. Girls (or guys?) with the best pole pose will receive a bottle of Absolute Vodka :-)

Got my shoulder mount several weeks ago and I now have no problems in doing it.

Even tried shoulder mount into an inverted V. The only problem is that my head seems to be touching the ground while I shoulder mount from the sitting down position. Anyway, I think it’s because you do have a tendency of sliding down after you have inverted, so I will have to do the inverted caterpillar climb immediately rather than “taking a rest” after I’ve inverted.

So, my next step is to try shoulder mounting from mid-air. One of my goal is to do a shoulder mount in mid-air into the superman pose. That requires alot more arm strength which IS something I don’t have.

Just want to drop down several tips on shoulder mount:

  1. make sure you place the pole on the muscle (not your bones) right next to your neck and press hard!
  2. grip your palm and fingers tight against the pole, this will create an inward force towards your body; and while your shoulder is pressing hard against the pole, you will be creating a “two-side” force allowing you to grip the pole steadily.
  3. Do not loosen your grip; nor the pressure from your shoulder from pressing against the pole. Never loosen the grip, never, never, never! Otherwise your body would slide down and you will lose the power required for the shoulder mount.
  4. Once you have inverted, grip the pole tight with your legs and allow your body to slide down along the pole.
  5. Flatten your back immediately after you have inverted, this movement will allow your collar bone to be hidden rather than exposed when you curl up. This is very important cos someone broke her collar bone while doing a shoulder mount!
  6. Tell yourself that you CAN do it. I think this is a general tip on pole dancing. Just be confident and you’ll be able to do what you want :-)

Hope these helps :-)

Darth Vader Superman

Gosh! This is nuts! Didn’t know someone actually took a pic of it…. Cos I thought I didn’t go it properly - I couldn’t see a damn thing inside the mask! The visibility was OK to start with, but then once I got inverted - the mask kinda dropped out and my vision was blocked!

That reminds me of Mulan (from the Bobbi’s Studio) did a Storm trouper - look alike pole dance in the Australian pole dancing competition 2007…

!*!#^@$ This is mad…

But then, on the other hand, I AM combining the both of my favorite! Haha

MAD

- that’s the only word I can think of regarding the “Pole and Champange Girls-only Party” I organised last Saturday.

As suggested by its name, it was a:

  1. Pole dancing party
  2. Girrls only
  3. There was champagne, for sure… (Although the HUGE bottle we actually opened was a German one, i.e. just bubble… I thought we would be able to open the 2nd bottle, which is the real stuff - a Dom Perignon Rose

Anyway, wee girls (wee… which means tiny too) are easy and simply one bottle could made us all to mad. So this picture is one of the products of our madness. 3 girls on a pole! I have never been so satisfied with the strength of the X-pole before. I am truly amazed… after such crazy poling and it is still standing upright at my place! And bare in mind that it’s a portable one :-)

Anyway, feel free to see a selection of pics I’ve uploaded at flickr (non-so-mad ones though, the other pics are private :p)

have fun! I do think X-pole/Vertical Dance should pay us commission fee :p

**This list is constantly being updated :-) **

Although you can pole dance to pretty much any songs of different styles, there are always a particular few that you like. So I’ve decided to put my list down here, together with a playlist player from my last.fm page, hope you’ll like them.

  • N*E*R*D – Rock Star (Jason Nevins Remix)
It HAS TO BE the Jason Nevins Remix, cos the original version is rather slow and not so good for pole dancing. The Bobbis studio in Australia has created a routine for this song and it remains one of my favourite routines.
  • The Pussycat Dolls – Buttons (feat. Snoop Dogg)
  • haha, the usual selection.

  • Britney Spears – Gimme More
  • Britney did some pole dancing in her video (did she? ummmm). But this song is nice for pole, not too fast and kinda sexy. Hee

  • Justin Timberlake – SexyBack
  • Classic song for pole dancing!

  • Gnarls Barkley – Crazy
  • This song is great for performances on spinning pole… cos the background rythm feels like going round and round and round and round….

  • TV Rock Feat. Seany B – Flaunt it
  • Got loads of beads that allow you to sway your pelvis!

  • Britney Spears – I Love Rock’N'Roll
  • Hohoho, another classic song for pole dancing. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts’ version would do too… Britney’s version has a stronger beat though, i.e. easier to make specific movements :-)

  • Play Lenny Kravitz – American Woman
  • Makes me think of Pantera (the American pole dancer, not the band :-p)

  • 50 Cent – Candy Shop (Feat Olivea)
  • This song is just soooo horny

  • Foo Fighters – The Pretender
  • OK, I know this sounds a bit weird for pole dancing. Just listent to it, this song has a very dynamic range of slow and fast beats, allowing you to do different moves/spins at different part of the song.

  • Rammstein – Sonne
  • Do some strong moves after the counting of 1-10 (Eins…. Aus); or after each sentense, e.g. after “Alle warten auf das Licht”…
And in all the indicated space listed below, you can do a specific pose and pause for 1-2 seconds to display skills…
    Eins
    (HERE)
    Hier kommt die Sonne

    Zwei (HERE)
    Hier kommt die Sonne

    and etc etc…

  • Amerie – Gotta Work
  • Hip Hop plus pole dancing!
Learned the routine designed by Helen from the Hip Hop Pole Dancing class of PoleDivas HK. There are several counts of 8 which allows you to either spins or display a specific pose (e.g. hand stand with attitude legs/ superman… etc)

  • Estelle ft Kanye West – American Boy
  • Great range of beats!

  • Jamelia – Stop!
  • You can swing your head at every “STOP!”, I think (from my point of view), it’s very sexy. This song allows you to pole dance in a sad way (or sad and sexy way).

  • Massive Attack – I Want You (Vocal by Madonna)
  • This is a very sexy song. Also good for lapdancing :p I love the bass used in this song… makes it even sexier

  • Prince – Cream
  • OMG, one of my favourite songs… get a Prince-styled outfit and do similar dance/pole moves as in the video!

  • Apollonia 6 – Sex Shooter (Extended Mix)
  • Ummm… i can’t explain. It’s just good for pole dancing, and it’s sexy :p

  • Beyoncé – Baby Boy
  • R&Bs are always good for pole dancing :-)

  • Black Eyed Peas – My Humps
  • Haha, just touch your humps during “my lovely lady lumps” “my humps my humps”… etc! p.s. because of the strong beats too!

  • Black Eyed Peas – Pump It
  • Bodyrockers – I Like the Way (radio edit)
  • Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart
  • Do a short swing at each “Turn around” followed by a spin…

  • Caviar – Sugarless
  • Coldplay – Viva la Vida
  • Beck – Soul Of A Man
  • This song has some strong beats to dance to! Do a head swing or dip :-)

  • Shirley Bassey &nsash; Big Spender
  • I prefer the version from her “Get the party started” album, it’s a re-make which has stronger beats and a more “modern” feel, makes it more suitable for pole dancing. You can always do a leg split on the pole after the “the minute you walk in the joint, or “so let me get right to the point”…
Try doing this song in a bunny suit, hee hee

  • Vanessa Mae – I feel Love
  • Yes, NOT Donna Summer’s verion, but Vanessa Mae’s version. I *think* the vocal is really by Vanessa Mae. Anyway, I think this is a good song for pole dancing. It has strong beats, but with long melodic periods and a crazy violin solo (it’s Vanessa Mae’s version afterall!) which is great for doing some short and quick move like… inverted V into germini, then scorpio and back to germini… etc etc (or the “Electric Switch” as called by KT Coats) hee.

I just love this song :-)

    RIMG0161

OK, I do admit and I’m a bit mad these days… whenever I see a pole on the street, I would think of the possibility of doing some moves on it.

I wanted to do an inversion but there were several people around and I was kinda shy (haha) so I gave up :p

It was fun, I should start a section on “pole dancing at weird places”, lol. I knew that was a girl who did some crazy moves outside the Rome Colosseum.

I really like this picture (thanks to the one who took this pic!) especially with the water host (I have no idea on what it is called…)

p.s. as you might have noticed, this was taken at the Peak, hee
